Don’t be afraid to talk to people

When you have been through something traumatic in life, we tend to push it down and not talk about it.

It’s a release when we can talk to someone about it. It actually frees us even more. This person to talk to could be a professional, someone you trust or someone you know who’s being through a similar journey as you.

Talking about your experience makes you realise how free you are and how much you have grown. Sometimes when we are experiencing behaviour from someone else, it isn’t until we take off the rose coloured glasses that we realise, wow, how did I even put up with that person’s behaviour.

The most important thing to know is, you don’t have to put up with someone’s bad behaviour towards you. You can move on! And the best way to do that is to find support from others to help you on your journey to healing yourself.

Sometimes we feel it’s best we don’t open the darkness that we have had to overcome or are overcoming. But as you touch the surface as you tell someone, they may relate or you feel the trust building with them and then you dive in. Into your darkest depths and as you pull it out, you realise, it’s ok. You will never be in that time again. You are healing. You are safe now. You realise you can talk about it and whatever emotions you feel arise, you can acknowledge them and move on.

It is ok to get emotional. You have been through a tough time. No matter how big or small the situation was, it was still traumatic to you. You still buried it deep enough to feel ok on the surface to focus on each day as it comes.

What if I told you, in time, you will not just heal from what you experienced but you will grow. You will learn what your boundaries are, you will heal in beautiful ways and discover new things about yourself or let yourself rekindle with life’s enjoyment.

It’s important you find someone to talk to. To release your pushed down feelings and thoughts. It’s important you choose someone you trust. And watch how you transform and feel uplifted by acknowledging what traumatic situation you went through and knowing you will never have to go through it again.

It’s empowering because you have a bright future and now whatever was holding you back is free and your sky is limitless. You can achieve whatever you want. You can be who you want to be. You can feel free. Be you.

If you are in a difficult situation right now, speak to a professional or even call your local help line to talk things through and ask where to find help. It’s not being weak to find help and talk about the past, it’s being strong.
