It’s time to start focusing on your BIG dreams

When you are young, you have big dreams. Fun dreams.

And then you start the workforce and your dreams are still there but in the sidelines. You not-realising unconsciously decide to stop focusing on your efforts and you stop dreaming your big dreams. Because work is all-consuming. Working for money is all-consuming. And what you will do with that money, like buy a house for example becomes your next goal. And there is nothing wrong with this… except you then go through life and at some points think, whatever happened to my big dreams?

And the feelings of feeling like you no longer have the confidence, the skill set or the ideal age to go and chase your dreams, so you push them aside and you let life’s chaos take over.

And then a few years later, the feelings and thoughts about your once big dreams come back.

This is me telling you: No matter how old you are or what your financial status is, you have one life to do everything you ever wanted to do.

Explore and dream big. And then find ways to live it.

When you are older and maybe struggle with health, will you regret not trying to chase your dreams?

When you are 40 and still working hard just to pay the bills, will you regret not trying to chase your dreams?

What I am trying to say is, don’t let life get in the way of your dreams, no matter what your age. Find little ways and brief time to just dream and imagine you living your big dreams. Would your daily life change? And if so, how?

What could you start doing now to live your dreams in a year? If you gave yourself one year to work on your big dreams, what would you need to do to get ready?

For example, if you look at my dance blog, I am aiming for one year to not just dance but to perform. But if I want to perform, how do I get ready now so in a year I am performance ready? What’s your dream?

Now step back and work out what you need to do to get there. I detail what I need to do in my dance blog here:

Work out how long will it take?

It doesn’t matter if your skill set has dropped. Because you may have a champion at it when you were young, it actually shouldn’t take long to get back into it. Expect to be rusty at first. And if it is something like dancing for example, don’t look in the mirror as you train to dance at the beginning. As this may drop your confidence. You have to remember you may be rusty at first and that is ok.

If you really give yourself the chance to chase your dreams. And really do something that at the thought makes you smile. Then be brave and just give yourself time to dive in. You don’t have to announce to the world what your big dream is right away. Just start preparing to be your best self.

Because when you are lying awake in bed, you don’t want to think to yourself, “I just wish I had the courage and made time for my dreams. Now they will always be just a dream.” No, now you will lay in bed and think, “I’m so glad I did the very one dream I always dreamt of doing.”
