Find what fills your cup
It’s really important to do more of what gives you joy and/or peace inwardly.
But first, how do you know what works?
If you feel good after doing something, do that more often.
If you feel anxious or your gut feels like something is wrong or your stomach feels tangled, try to do less of this. Although, if it’s nervous excited that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Just something you may need more practice on. And you may feel this way, when you are doing something big that you wouldn’t normally do, like a performance, a test or interview. It can range far and wide.
What are some ideas that could fill your cup:
Spend time with people you like
It could be spending time with family and/or loved ones. Spending time with people you like and can be yourself around, instantly eases your mind and relaxes your body. It’s a wholesome experience. Instead of worrying, am I being accepted by this person? Is what I am saying what they are thinking? You can just be yourself.
Exploring new places and taking yourself on adventures.
I have recently started a travel blog (https://melanietoyetravels.blogspot.com/?m=1). And it reminds me gently, that I need to follow my goals and that is to go out once a week and explore places. It’s definitely been fun and I have really enjoyed every unique experience so far. And it’s just the beginning. And yes, I do go by myself. So if you are single, get yourself to go on an adventure. It doesn’t have to be long, even just for an hour. You will feel the difference and the confidence building inside you as well as the excitement of being somewhere new or somewhere you haven’t been too in a long time.
Listen to music
Turning up the music and singing as loud as you can or dancing as if no one is watching. I love this simple act. Music is healing and can help ease the feeling of loneliness. Plus you get to be in the present moment. As you just let the music fill your bones with soul/rap/pop/country whatever type of music you love. I definitely pump up the music when I wake up to help me rev up the day and wake up, not just my eyes but filling my body with movement.
Using your hands to make something.
Using your hands can be a powerful tool. Making something ignites your spirit. I personally like making craft but using your hands could be anything from patting an animal, to giving someone a massage to playing golf. Find something YOU enjoy that uses your hands and really be mindful when doing it. Think about what it feels like to hold. What is the texture like? What is the object shape? And continue to feel the object and name to yourself what you are feeling.
Remember, when you fill up your cup, you will feel like you have more energy. You will feel happier. You will feel lighter. And even if you have a tough conversation with someone close to you, you will then feel like you can breathe and let it go because someone listened. Find ways to fill your cup at least once a week. Start there. And then do it as often as you want because why shouldn’t life be lived to fill your own cup?
